Mobile & High Volume Transaction Output – Part Two
Posted on Mon, Feb 28, 2011
What’s the future of mobile and high volume transaction output?
Recently, OutputLinks pondered high volume transaction output (HVTO) and mobile (see original posting). How will they work together? How are they working together now? What does the future hold for HVTO and mobile?
Mark Kearns, vice president of print and mail services at Fifth Third Bank, says, “Yes!” to mobile and HVTO. “I believe there will be a significant impact with the increased usage of smart phones and mobile technology,” he shares.
What’s happening with HVTO and mobile?
Kearns believes that companies are considering mobile and HVTO, and they’re implementing some of the following:
- Ensuring that Web sites are optimized for mobile viewing.
- Creating apps or other tools that are user friendly for mobile.
- Using mobile and e-mail to not send documents but to send alerts that documents are ready for viewing.
- Increasing the length of time an image can be viewed via an archive.
- Encouraging customers with incentives to view statements etc. via Web based apps instead of waiting for USPS mail.
Kearns adds: “There is also the opportunity to grow revenues by creating products specifically for this segment and reducing costs by eliminating postage.” He also notes: “The last market research I read placed smart phones at about 35 percent of the segment thus far, so they are not quite ubiquitous.”
